Tim has worked in the creative industry for over 35 years. He discovered the internet in the early 90’s and was inspired to set up a digital agency called Revolution.
When Revolution was sold to a NASDAQ listed network in 2000, Tim founded two more creative technology agencies Playgroup and Freely partnered with clients such as Unilever, BBC, Mercedes Benz, Adidas, and ITV. The vast majority of projects involved some form of learning and development.
Tim went on to become a partner at We Are Human, a venture studio, who invest in and support tech startups in learning, health and well-being and environment.
We Are Human’s most notable achievement was Kahoot! – a game-based learning platform popular in schools around the world. There have been 4.4 billion cumulative players since Kahoot! started in 2013. It’s been played in every country in the world and is increasingly used as a corporate training tool. It went public and is now a $1.5 billion company. Tim was General Manager from 2014 to 2017.
Tim has a passion for empowering creative talent and a desire to create a better, fairer society. He believes tech entrepreneurship is one of the most powerful and influential ways of doing that. He is particularly inspired working with young people or groups who are underrepresented in tech, and developing thriving organisational cultures.
Tim is a Board Member at The Harris Federation and Chair of Governors at Harris Academy Riverside. The Harris Federation has grown to include 48 Primary and Secondary Academies, 36,000 pupils and 4,000 staff. The multi-academy trust educates 1 in every 41 pupils in London with a £230 million annual budget.
Outside of work, Tim enjoys staying fit by training for and competing in triathlon events.
